A simplified and proactive decision-making dashboard for risk management.

The existing system overwhelmed users with unclear data, making it hard to act fast and smart.

How

Redesigned the decision flow, visual structure, and gradual information reveal to focus attention and improve clarity.

  WHAT is RiskGuard?

RiskGuard is a redesigned risk management system for Uber Freight that helps logistics managers take control of at-risk shipments.

The process is built around three clear steps: choosing the right truck to focus on, understanding the disruption through a visual timeline, and selecting the best response with clear, expandable suggestions.

By turning complex data into focused decisions, RiskGuard improves response time, reduces potential losses, and builds trust through smarter, proactive action.

Principles
Visual clarity
Show only what matters at each step – from region overview to truck-level risk.
Progressive
information disclosure
Replaced text-heavy tables with maps, icons, and color-coded indicators.

Proactive
decision-making
From passive status tracking to suggested next steps for every at-risk shipment.

  WHY is it needed?

Uber Freight allows users to track the status of their shipments, including a key status: "at risk" — indicating a truck may not arrive safely.

The current interface presents this information in a cluttered, unclear way. Users are overwhelmed, under pressure, and forced to make critical decisions without the clarity they need.

Meet Mark — a logistics manager responsible for dozens of shipments each day. His top priority is making sure every truck arrives safely. When something goes wrong, he needs to quickly understand the problem, assess the impact, and take action — all while staying

"In logistics, trust isn’t just about moving freight—it’s about knowing it’ll arrive on time, intact, and without surprises”

  HOW does it work?

We redesigned the decision-making process into 3 clear phases

01

Choosing a risk to focus on

02

Understanding the issue

03

Choosing how to respond

Choosing a risk to focus on

01

Users start by zooming out to view regional risk levels, then zoom in to select the most urgent case — ensuring they stay aware of the big picture before acting locally.

Understanding the issue

02

We visualized the full timeline of the disruption using consistent icons: origin, current location, blocked destination, updated route, and affected zone — helping users grasp what happened, where, and what’s at stake.

We created a clear, trackable narrative that helps users understand the situation at a glance and act with confidence.
