Redesigned the decision flow, visual structure, and gradual information reveal to focus attention and improve clarity.

What

RiskGuard is a redesigned risk management system for Uber Freight that helps logistics managers take control of at-risk shipments, by turning complex data into focused decisions.

The decision making process is built around
3 steps :

01

focusing
on the right risk to handle first

02

understanding
the disruption and the possibe consequences

03

acting
choosing the best respond with clear, expandable suggestions.

Focusing

01

Users start by zooming out to view regional risk levels, then zoom in to select the most urgent case — ensuring they stay aware of the big picture before acting locally.

02

Understanding

We visualized the full timeline of the disruption using consistent icons: origin, current location, blocked destination, updated route, and affected zone — helping users grasp what happened, where, and what’s at stake.

Why

The existing system overwhelmed users with unclear data, making it hard to act fast and smart.

Today, Uber Freight’s customers rely on a Control Tower dashboard to track their active shipments. Each shipment is automatically assigned a status.
The "At Risk" status flags shipments that may not reach their destination safely or on schedule, due to issues like traffic, weather, vehicle breakdowns, or theft.

This classification system is helpful but the current interface presents the information in a cluttered, unclear way. Users are overwhelmed, under pressure, and forced to make critical decisions without the clarity they need.

Meet Mark - a logistics manager responsible for dozens of shipments each day. His top priority is making sure every truck arrives safely. When something goes wrong, he needs to quickly understand the problem, assess the impact, and take action

"In logistics, trust isn’t just about moving freight—it’s about knowing it’ll arrive on time, intact, and without surprises”

How

We redesigned the decision-making process using

3 core principles:

Show only what matters at each step – from region overview to truck-level risk.

Visual clarity

Replaced text-heavy tables with maps, icons, and color-coded indicators.

Progressive
information disclosure

From passive status tracking to suggested next steps for every at-risk shipment.
